PEIMS is an acronym for Public Education Information Management System.

This is the instrument by which all Texas public school districts report district information to the Texas Education Agency.  All funding, special program and statistical information published in Texas has PEIMS as it's source.

Teachers create PEIMS data when they enter their classroom attendance into Gradespeed.  Counselors enter PEIMS data when they schedule students or create report cards.  Campus secretaries enter PEIMS data when they enroll or withdraw students.

My job is to oversee all of this data entry, support the software generating it, and submit multitudes of reports to the state at the appropriate times.  I must know and educate other district personnel regarding PEIMS policy and law, and make certain HISD is in compliance at all times.

There are 4 major annual submissions of PEIMS data:

FALL (October)

MID-YEAR  (January)

SUMMER  (June)

EXTENDED YEAR
(September)

In addition to these major submissions, TEA added a weekly Entry/Withdrawal report.  This report is supposed to help us track student enrollment throughout the state.
