Parents,
The first day of school was fun! Your children are delightful.
Today, your child brought home a homework folder. Your child will bring this folder home each night. Even though homework will not begin until after Labor Day, this folder also holds the responsibility form. Each day your child will mark it with a face determining their behavior for the day. At the bottom of the form is the key to problem behaviors. A happy face means your child had a great day. A straight mouth or sad face means your child had problems that day. If your child has a straight mouth or a sad face, I will write the number corresponding to the problem in the space along with the face. Please sign or initial your child’s responsibility form every night. I check the folders for signatures each morning. Children who have their form signed, earn a sticker for their behavior chart. Once their chart is filled, your child chooses a “big” surprise out of the treasure chest.
I expect each child to be responsible for their own behavior, to be respectful of themselves, others, and things in the classroom, and to be polite and mannerly. Each family should have received a list of specific expectations for my class. The expectations can also be found on my website http://staff.herefordisd.net/ShariLake2/index.htm.
When your child behaves in a manner consistent with the expectations, I offer them a reward.
Your child can choose from these rewards.
· A sticker for their behavior chart.
· A small surprise (not edible).
· A happy face on the responsibility chart.
· A cheer from the class and me.
· A coloring page to color.
· Colored writing paper.
Rewards can be earned for any positive behavior.
Please encourage your child with their behavior and help correct them when needed. I appreciate all you do to support your child.
If you have any questions, please call me at school 363-7660 or e-mail me at sharilake@herefordisd.net.
Yours very truly,
